Waterfall

Waterfall

She is just a memory
That leaves my mind
Ensnared in the reeds at the side of the lake,
Split between a million strands,
And spat out again to tinkle and glide
Between the vitreous stones that line the way
To the final searing, crashing, backbreaking descent.

And now beaten, groggy, listless
My mind is left in fragments
Between the sand particles
At the bottom of the dark green pool,
That knows and smiles.
